Sacred Mixed Choir

Ayumi Nakamae directed the Coastal Carolina Chamber Choir in premiere performances of Gentle Lord, Take My Hand, Sing to Him a New Song and Sing Joyfully to the Lord

Gentle Lord, Take my Hand  (2008) for SATB chorus and piano – 3’15”. As a statement of faith, this piece makes a very good general anthem. It is also appropriate for memorial or funeral services because it declares a life of service and a belief in the hereafter.

Sing to Him a New Song   (2008) for SATB chorus and piano – 3’00”.  The text is taken from Psalm 33, NIV.  The setting modulates cleverly to emphasize the text.

Sing Joyfully to the Lord  (2008) for SATB chorus and piano – 2’40”.  The text for this lively, joyous setting is also from Psalm 33, NIV.

Jerry Cribbs conducted the Cape Fear Chorale in this performance of If I Take the Wings of the Morning.

If I Take the Wings of the Morning  (2001) for SATB choir and piano – 4’20”. This work starts with portions of Psalm 139 and adds texts by the composer. The message is clear: God’s devotion to us is remarkable and his universe is a miracle – we should praise Him.
