BRASS Solo/Duo

French Horn:

Elegy for the Victims of Ebola (10/19/14) for horn and piano – 7’25”.  Elegy is a concept of mourning and lament for the dead and praise for the deeds they accomplished while living.

Elegy for the Victims of Ebola was premiered in London by Henryk Sienkiewicz, horn, and Robert Coleridge, piano.

Trumpet:

Ceremonial Music for Trumpet and Theater Organ (4/14/19) – 10’00”.

New River Waltz (7/14/14) for trumpet and piano – 4’22”.  The river in this work is not the famous one flowing through the mountains.  It is the very short, slow river that begins and ends in Onslow County, North Carolina.

My Lord, What a Mourning! (1990) Sonata/Suite for trumpet and piano – 13’45”.  The work is in three movements.

Paul Morton, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, premiered My Lord, What a Mourning! in 1991.

Trombone:

Trombone Soup (10/8/15) for trombone and piano – 4’25”.  This jazzy solo is a crowd pleaser.  Despite its laidback mood, it shows off the trombone through its entire range and is virtuosic.

Megumi Kanda premiered Trombone Soup at the International Trombone Festival in Redlands, California, on June 29, 2017.  Another great performance of Trombone Soup is by Keith Jackson from West Virginia University.

Tuba:

The Low Down (3/26/20) for tuba and piano – 4’40”
